Starting salaries are low in most private jobs now, Unless you are a IIM or IIT passout in india.
Still you can get good headstart and future progress in pharma field if you do one of the following.
    1. After B. Pharm go for MBA from top business schools in India or abroad. Pharma and consulting company will prefer a pharma graduate. Target the consulting companies. you will get good jobs in India and abroad. key here is getting into the top institute for masters like iim , iit , niper mohali or foreign ones. You will be working as a consultant or manager
    2. If interested in pharma research or becoming professor in India do M. Pharm ( preferably MS Pharm) from top institute in pharmacology. Pharmacology Scientist in private sector and government professors in institutes like niper etc earn good enough.
    3. If you do not mind settling abroad do pharma D from good foreign university. In many countries pharmacist with pharma D degree are respected and paid same as physicians.
Choose one of the above as per your aptitude.
Other fields like production and regulatory affairs etc are not encouraging enough as told by your father.
Gender bias do not exist in the most of the above fields. Possibly even if it does exist somewhere like in MBA field, it will be a minor factor. Your talent will determine your career.

What you observed is just an example of injustice to pharmacist profession in india. There is no cadre in most places, recruitment is done at lower gradepay when compared to other similar professions, workload is more. Pharmacy acts are not followed, doctors are incharge of pharmacy stores, nurses are going to provide primary treatment without any knowledge of medicines and pharmacists are excluded, non pharmacy professions audit the pharmacy.
    Why?
Because pharmacists are intentionally kept treated like this by policymakers, many of whom are policymakers.
Secondly pharmacy councils and organizations moslty serve vested interest.
This is allowed to happen because of weak lobby and negligent attittude of common pharmacits. many are pessimists and lazy. Nurses gets roles which they are not even qualified for because of lobby, same for medical officers becoming store incharge.
    Solution:
Unity and getting noticed by propaganda and other peaceful means. The only way forward is fight for justice. joining good organizations and contributing.
In NHM case, Legal way cannot force government to change recruitment rules. Only justified lobbying for rights can.
Issue can be taken with PCI and Ministry supervising the recruitment.

Answer: Pharmacists working conditions are rigorous in many government hospitals too because more posts and counters need to be created, same with most jails or prisons. Pharmacists duty are same in prison as in hospital or dispensary. Pharmacist manage medicines stock and dispense the drugs after proper prescription assessment.
Treatment is the responsibility of doctor, pharmacists role starts after prescription is written. Job hours will be same as dispensary or hospital i.e 6 to 8 hours.
Also please note that question was not related to post, so we have create the topic. You can comment here get more doubts solved.
